About us

Who we are

We are a dedicated team of educators, students, and community members working together to build a brighter future.

In partnership with Teens for Food Justice (TFFJ), we are proud to host a high-capacity indoor hydroponic farm at our school. This farm is part of the Far Rockaway Farm Hub, which includes four hydroponic farms located throughout the Rockaway peninsula. Our goal is to provide local, sustainably-grown produce to food desert communities, helping to ensure access to healthy food for all.

The farm serves as both a food source and a learning hub, where students can engage in youth-led farming initiatives. Through hands-on learning, we teach the importance of sustainability, healthy eating, and community resilience. We are committed to providing as much of our harvest as possible to local households, reducing food insecurity and promoting a healthier future for everyone.

Our approach

Our Mission

To transform the Rockaway community through sustainable farming and youth-led measures

Our hydroponic farm not only provides fresh produce to the Rockaway community but also serves as an educational platform, empowering students with hands-on experience in farming, sustainability, and food justice.

Our Vision

A future where access to fresh, healthy food is a right for all, and young people lead the charge in building sustainable food systems.

At Scholars’ Academy, we believe in the power of education to drive lasting change. Through our hydroponic farm, we aim to inspire a new generation of leaders who will use innovative solutions to combat food insecurity and build sustainable, equitable communities for years to come.
